What is the difference between TED, TEDWomen, TEDx, and TEDxDownsviewWomen?

TED is a non-profit with the goal to make great ideas accessible through short, impactful talks (18 minutes or less) covering topics from technology to health to social issues. TEDWomen was started in 2010 to showcase women’s ideas, issues, and stories.

TEDx events are TED-like experiences that are independently organized by volunteers who wish to bring people together within their communities.

TEDxDownsviewWomen is run by a team of volunteers in Toronto who want open the floor for women to spark conversation and connect.

What is the focus of the event?

The event centers around “ideas worth spreading”. It’s not a motivational event - we want every person who attends to walk away with a new idea that incites change, big or small. We want to foster conversation by giving the opportunity for attendees to network and share.

Who will be attending the event?

The event is not just for women. It is for anyone interested in exploring how ideas spread and how leading women in their fields have showed up to drive real, meaningful change in their industries and communities.

Where will the event be held?

The event will be held at the Toronto Centre of the Arts, 5040 Yonge St, Toronto
