#SpeakerReveal: Supporting Children & Youth Through Studies and Research
Our next speaker has built her career on developing practises and theories, based on studies and research to provide better support and development of children and youth.
Beverly-Jean Daniel has a Ph.D. in Social Justice and Equity issues with a combined focus on Women and Gender Studies and a master’s degree in Counselling. She has worked in various aspects of the field of Child and Youth Care including residential, hospital, mental health and community-based settings. She has taught in the fields of education where she focused on anti-oppression and anti-racism issues in the preparation of teachers.
She had also worked in justice studies programs where she supported the development of community justice workers. Her research and teaching focuses on developing strengths-based and positive youth development theories and practices for effectively supporting children and youth, particularly those who are racialized.
