Let’s get to know our next speaker who’s not afraid to stand up and speak her mind, for the good of the citizens she serves.
Dr. Eileen de Villa is the Medical Officer of Health for the City of Toronto. She leads Toronto Public Health, Canada’s largest local health organization, which provides public health programs and services.
Her mission as Medical Officer of Health is tackling issues such as the opioid crisis in which she’s called for the decriminalization of drugs for personal use as a resolution. Responsible for the health of 2.9 million Torontonians, it’s a job she does not take lightly.
Dr. de Villa has authored, published and presented research on issues including public health considerations for city planning, public health policy development, communicable disease control and emergency preparedness.
