#SpeakerFridays: Introducing our first speakers!
We’re excited to reveal our first two speakers. They’re inspiring leaders in their respective fields who have persevered through daunting and challenging situations. Let’s get to know them better.
Najma is a trauma and acute care surgeon at St. Michael’s Hospital and General Surgery Residency Program Director at University of Toronto. She tirelessly cared and treated the victims of the tragic Danforth shooting this year. Throughout her career, Najma has been committed to improving training for doctors and her contribution to surgical education have earned her numerous recognition and awards, most notably the prestigious Royal College AMS/Donald Richards Wilson Award in 2016.
Interesting Fact: She’s authored over 75 peer-reviewed papers and is a proud mother to a 13 year old daughter.
Kelly has built an accomplished career for the Department of National Defence since joining the Canadian Armed Forces in 1996. She has led numerous operations and exercises all over the world, providing training and expertise in public affairs. Now Director of Navy Public Affairs, she’s a proven leader with a passion for communication and storytelling with a focus on including gender perspectives into military and operational planning.
Interesting Fact: She’s a strong advocate and volunteer of the Veterans Emergency Transition Services Canada.
